Mumeng Lutheran Youths seek redress

By Reuben Mete

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mumeng District (ELC Mumeng) is hosting its District Conference this week from 26th October to the 02nd of November 2013. The theme of the weeklong conference is ‘Christ in the Family’ taken from the Holy Bible in Ephesus 6:1. The Conference is expected to attract Lutheran members within the 19 parishes and 97 congregations to meet and addresses issues concerning their Christian lives, the challenges as Christian and the changes that affect them in their social, economic as well as their spiritual growth.

Mr. Chris Vincent, ELC Mumeng District Youth Coordinator says he is expecting more than 500 young men and women to participate in the conference. “The current terms of youth Executive which is two year have been very challenge and short for me to implement some of the things in the district,” Chris said. “I wanted to see this term extended to three or four years to give enough time for implementation.”

There will be a Pres-Assembly for Women and Youths on Monday and Tuesday than they will join in with the rest over the remaining days of the week. Other agenda’s expected are youth budgets, 04th Annual Youth Festival and Election of all District Executives including Youths, Women’s and Sunday school. Mumeng District is one of the biggest districts with its youth’s population estimated to be 50,000 to 60,000.
